What’s inside
Roadmap for Next Steps: 1) Build competency, 2) Gather resources, 3) Build policies/practices/guidance, 4) Train direct-service staff—a simple sequence to move from learning to action.
Minimum Safety Requirements (quick checklist): privacy/consent, limited sensitive data, gender-identity–aligned facilities access, supervision and orientation for vulnerable spaces, one person per stall/shower/bed after lights-out (with medical exceptions), right to change/shower without being seen, disrupt bias/harassment, and train staff in camper-centered practices.
Terms to Know (plain language): gender, sexuality, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, intersex, transgender, cisgender, pronouns (including neo-pronouns), non-binary, trans boy/man, trans girl/woman, and Two-Spirit. Great for aligning team language.
Resource Lists: crisis/support lines (e.g., Trans Lifeline, Trevor Project), healthcare and parent/caregiver supports (e.g., FOLX Health, PFLAG), and camp-specific coaching/policy help (TQAMP, specialty legal/policy orgs).
Why this matters (at a glance): visual summary of risk and protective factors for youth well-being, emphasizing connection, community, and skills that build resilience.
